Offering Individual and Group Therapy in Wellington, Somerset to Adults, Children and Young People.
Hi my name is Carolyn
I am an integrative counsellor based in Wellington, Somerset, offering a compassionate and tailored approach to support children, young people, and adults. I draw from a wide array of therapeutic methods to create a personalised approach for each client.
Engaging in your first counselling session can feel overwhelming and daunting; I can assure you this is a perfectly natural response. My role is to ensure you feel safe and comfortable whilst sharing your difficulties.
With a personal understanding of neurodiversity, I can relate to the unique challenges and strengths that come with it. In addition to one-on-one counselling, I run various group therapy sessions called 'Finding Balance', providing a supportive space for collective growth and healing. Please take a look at the 'Services' page for further information.

At Carolyn Elizabeth Counselling, I believe that everyone—regardless of age or background—has the strength and capacity to grow, heal, and thrive. My practice is rooted in empathy, respect, and a deep commitment to creating a safe and supportive space where people can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgment. I recognise that life’s challenges affect people in different ways. Whether working with adults navigating personal struggles, young people developing their sense of identity, or children making sense of their emotions, I tailor my approach to meet each person’s unique needs. Supporting each person to find their voice, overcome obstacles, and embrace a future filled with possibility and hope.

Approach to Therapy with Carolyn
Qualified Counsellor and Member of BACP & Accredited Member of NCS
I offer a compassionate, tailored approach to therapy that focuses on creating a safe, non-judgmental space for you to share and explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. As an integrative counsellor, I draw upon a variety of therapeutic techniques to find the best fit for your unique needs, recognizing that one style of therapy does not work for everyone. My approach is flexible, allowing me to adapt to the challenges you're facing and support you in a way that feels most comfortable.

Person-Centered Care: I believe that every individual is unique, and therefore, every therapy journey should be personalized. Whether you’re a child, young adult, or an older individual, I’ll work with you to create a therapeutic experience that is tailored to your personal circumstances and preferences.
Techniques that Feel Right for You: My therapy toolbox includes a variety of methods such as walking and talking therapy, sand tray therapy, active listening, and providing unconditional positive regard. These approaches aim to help you express yourself freely while feeling understood and supported.
Creating a Safe Space: Engaging in therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if it's your first time. My goal is to make sure you feel comfortable and safe throughout our sessions. There’s no judgment in my therapy room, just an open, supportive environment where you can share your thoughts at your own pace.

Diversity, Inclusion and Equality
As an integrative counsellor at Carolyn Elizabeth Counselling, I am committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental space for all individuals. Equality, diversity, and inclusion are at the heart of my practice, ensuring that every client—regardless of background, identity, or neurodiversity—feels seen, heard, and valued.
With personal experience supporting neurodiverse children and adults, I understand the unique strengths and challenges they may face. I tailor my approach to suit individual needs, incorporating sensory-friendly strategies, creative expression, and emotional regulation techniques. My work embraces neuroaffirmative practices, recognizing neurodiversity as a natural variation rather than a deficit.
In supporting clients who have experienced trauma, I use a compassionate and trauma-informed approach. Through techniques such as grounding exercises, cognitive reframing, mindfulness, and creative therapies, I help individuals navigate their experiences in a way that promotes healing and empowerment.
By integrating various therapeutic methods, I strive to create a counselling environment that respects and celebrates diversity, supports neurodivergent needs, and facilitates personal growth and well-being.

Specialist Knowledge: With a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, I also hold further qualifications and training in areas such as Special Educational Needs (SEN), DSL Safeguarding for both Adults and Children, ACES, Prevention, Health & Saftey , Paediatric First Aid and First Aid at Work. This is to ensure I am well-equipped to offer the best support for children, young people, and adults alike. I hold a full and up-to-date Enhanced DBS, giving you added confidence in the safety and professionalism of our sessions.
Working with Schools and Communities: I have experience within local schools, where I’ve set up wellbeing hubs and worked closely with small groups of children and young people to promote mental health and emotional regulation. My work in the community further informs my approach, allowing me to offer holistic support.
